Isaac Hayes

Legendary soul singer Isaac Hayes has died age 65 today at his home in Memphis Tennesee. The Shelby sheriff’s department does not suspect foul play. Isaac Hayes was found by relatives at some point this afternoon collapsed and unconcious beside a running treadmill at his home, he was attended to by paramedics who tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at hospital at around 2pm local time.

Isaac Hayes was a prolific writer for legendary soul recording labe Stax, and wrote hits for Sam and Dave including “Soul Man”, many say that his “Hot Buttered Soul” album was one which broke the mould and lay the foundation for his trademark sultry sexy lyrics, mixed with political messages, indicative of the times in which he was living at that point in his life. He is perhaps best remembered for writing the 1971 soundtrack for the Blaxploitation movie “Shaft” for which he won an Oscar.

Isaac Hayes, the legendary soul singer who died today, was better known by a younger generation when he took the role of Chef, in the series South Park. As well as his successes in music, Isaac Hayes continued to work within his community and was an active member of the Church of Scientology, as are other famous people such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

Everyone seems to be looking for those late summer last minute deals so that they can enjoy the end of the summer holidays before the kids go back to school and what becomes the last season of the year arrives heralding falling leaves, and another year drawing to it’s close.

If you’re in Europe, you may find traveling long haul a bit of a chore and quite expensive this summer. Long gone it seems are those deals where you could fly last minute for £100. Nowadays this seems to be more like £350-400 per person at the very least. Although some travel agents in Britain last week were offering travellers looking for last minute deals accommodation for £2 per night, however once the extras were added, the cost of the last minute holiday, including flights, taxes and surcharges was still heading north of £350.

If you’re looking for somewhere to go last minute this week, why not try traveling to Italy. Accommodation in the larger cities we’ve heard are going very cheap as most Italians head of Ferragosto.

Indeed if you’re Italian and looking for last minute ferragosto deals, perhaps the best place to look is online where the most cut throat pricing is happening.
