World Watches As Obama Takes Office

Today, the world watched as the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in to office on the steps of Capitol Hill. On a freezing cold day, millions of people gethered to see the new president take office and billions more around the globe watched as President Barack Obama took his oath at a few minutes to noon on January 20th 2009.

President Obama is the first African American President of the USA, the historic nature of his appointment after winning the November 4th elections last year was not lost on the crowds who waited patiently to experience the day. As early as 4am, people from all around the USA and from other countres across the world waited for security checkpoints to open at 7am. The joy and love expressed by these people was very evident throughout this day of celebration. There was little or no trouble, the crowds moved patiently around the National Mall and along the parade route.
